Wow!
Our time with this program is coming to a close. It is really hard to believe that nine weeks have gone by so quickly. I am incredibly thankful for Detroit Community-Engagement Research Program (DCERP) and Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) for giving me such a unique fellowship experience. I am so blessed to have experienced community-based planning and research during this time. I am more astonished by my reflection from the first week because many of my expectations align with my initial blog post. I am so proud of the growth I have undergone this summer.
I only fell more in love with the city of Detroit through this program. Learning more about the history of Detroit was amazing. I was able to learn about my personal working style and how to remain true to myself within workspaces. I learned how important teamwork is within community programming.
I completed several projects that were used within park protocol and I am proud of that. I made connections that will be helpful moving forward into my professional career. I can confidently say that I made tremendous progress in the past two months.
As I stated in my first post, my experiences in Detroit remind of family, friends, and communities that work together to make Motown wonderful. My time with DDP only reminded me of this sentiment. Their passion and grit for seeing Detroit and Detroiters excel inspires me and will continuously impact my professional experiences. DCERP has exceeded all my expectations. I only hope the other fellows gained as much from the experience as I did because this is an experience I will never forget.
I am wishing everyone a great school year and I hope to see you all soon!
Best regards,
Le’Elle Davis
