I definitely have changed since the beginning of the program. I’ve learned more about myself and the role I see myself playing in the world as a change agent. It was extraordinarily powerful to be a part of an organization that helps young people to grow; that provided them with important knowledge about the world they live in and how they can change it.
I did expect to have difficulty connecting with students over a virtual space; and that was definitely realistic concern of mine. It’s something we noticed as an organization – student-student interaction was disconnected and less personal than it usually is in program space.
The world isn’t much different than how it was when I wrote the letter to myself nine weeks ago. People are still outraged about systemic failures; and these failures continue to go largely unaddressed.
