On Tuesday, my mentor, Dr. Alisa Perkins, joined us on Zoom to discuss Dream of Detroit. She spoke about both the mission and the vision of the organization. She shared a lot of valuable information about community-based participatory research and recommended that we read a book, Doing Public Humanities by Susan Smulyan, in order to learn more about the subject. Dr. Perkins also talked about the Dream Storytelling Project and how it provides educational material related to African-American Muslim leadership in Detroit. This educational material can be found at https://scholarworks.wmich.edu/dream-storytelling-interviews/. This archive includes the full-length interviews, a description of the interview, keywords, and more. I highly encourage everyone to spend time on the website, as it has a lot of incredible information about not only Black Muslim leadership, but also the history of Detroit!
