Week 9: Taxes, Money, and Greed – Detroit Community-Engaged Research Program

Week 9: Taxes, Money, and Greed

After reading my first blog, I realized that I’ve accomplished most of everything I hoped to learn about. Throughout the duration of the program, I have learned how the laws of taxes affect my community. It seems throughout all our lives we hear about how money is the root of how our world works, but to see it in action is truly eye opening. It affects our city council decisions, what neighborhoods get built or torn down, who can move in and out of an area, and it can push people out. My perceptions were definitely enhanced, but my opinions never faltered. I knew or at least had an idea of what money can do and who it works for, however, my project gave me a deeper analysis on how greed affects our everyday lives.

Nonetheless, I will always appreciate the opportunity to learn and gain more knowledge. This information can help me in whatever I choose to do or go into!
