My workplace culture is really quite fascinating. I would say the biggest factor that defines the differences in my workplace are age. Age seems to be a big divide that really produces quite different ideas and thoughts about how we should execute some projects. For example, introducing google drive as a platform seems to be an area which I have heard from many of my community partners is a point of contention. Many older folks don’t want to use drive while many of the younger folks see it as valuable.
The biggest difference in the culture where I work compared to the culture at home or at school is definitely race. In my area, the population is a majority black while in Ann Arbor and in my home town it is less than 5%. I can definitely see that there is a very different culture around here because of the difference in race.
