This article has really opened my eyes as far as how the food systems operate in our beloved city of Detroit. It is amazing how numerous amount of individuals belief Detroit is a dead city with absolutely nothing striving in here. Just as the author of this article described in the beginning, she thought this city would be like desert base upon the rumors that she heard. It actually turned out to be the total opposite of that and I am grateful.

This author gave us an insight into the challenges that some African Americans face in the food system. Although the fight for food justice in Detroit is based towards the blacks and I believe the Latino populations majority of the paid positions are filled up by the Whites. How does one comprehend such a thing?I believe the African Americans should in fact be in charge of their own movement. They understand the logic and reasons behind it better than another individual of a different race. Also others might not respect the movement as a whole if the people that the issue affects are sitting on the sidelines while allowing another individual of a different race to run things. HOWEVER under no circumstances should there be a split in the movement and prevent other individuals of different races to not be a part of it. These individuals can bring a lot to the table as far what they have experienced and what ideas they have to offer.

Everyone is fighting the same battle of undoing racism in the fight for food justice, so we must therefore remove any racist ideologies as well as personal thinking out of the way. The best idea would be for all Detroit farmers to come together and create something for their community. The issue of food is not a problem that will be solve over night, so it is about time that everybody put aside their own personal ideology and just came together as a community and build this city to a much higher plateau.
