WOAH. So we’re almost done with out internships!! I mean it’s week 7 so there’s really only 3 left. Everything is coming to an end so quickly! Luckily I’ve been able to squeeze lots of fun things here into my time here in Detroit. And also, lucky for you, I have taken plenty of pictures.
Seeing Vampire Weekend at Oakland University at an amazing outdoor stage was something I’ll always remember. Especially because they played my favorite song last!
The Eastern Market may just be my favorite place in Detroit, I mean food, flowers, cacti, art, and more! You can’t go wrong.
New Center Park has been one of our regular weekly activities whether it’s going there to see a free outdoor movie on Wednesday nights or it to go dancing and enjoy the music on Saturday nights, it’s always a bunch of fun.
Though the World Cup is already over my excitement hasn’t subsided. Deutschland uber alles!!! I was rooting for them from the start! 🙂 I’ve become quite a soccer fan since coming to Detroit, so many other interns are obsessed with it, there’s always cool things going on like this viewing party in downtown or people playing soccer over on the athletic campus.
Speaking of soccer, there’s also a City League in which Detroit plays places like Chicago, Indy, and Cinnci. I’ve been to a few of the game and I don’t think I’ve ever had more fun at a sporting event in my life!
Even in this city you can find it’s quieter spots, which is a good thing for me since I’m not used to this busy city life style. Belle Isle is a perfect place to go if you’re looking to relax or just go for a walk. There also lots of other things to do there like go to the aquarium or conservancy!
Did I mention you could also have a little bonfire on the beach and roast marshmallows? It’s a fantastic way to get to know people.
Ew who are those ugly people?? Me and some of my favorite quicken loans interns! I think one of my favorite parts of this summer has been getting to know a bunch of new people and bond with them enough to do silly things like dressing up as zombies for a 5k.

Detroit has more fun stuff going on than I would have ever imagined. Slow Roll bike rides with thousands of Detroiters, plenty of free concerts to see and community volunteering events to attend. Detroit’s not what I thought it would be and I have to say I’m happily surprised.

And I get to show it off to anyone who comes to visit!! 🙂

Where did you take that last picture that you posted? Was it in a building? I love all of these pictures. I’m so glad you’re having so much fun! Love this city.
Seriously…such…cool…pictures! You’ve done so much here in Detroit. I suppose the city has a new very informed advocate!
Nice, imagine what it was like in the 40’s and 50’s?
