This is a good thing… right? – Detroit Community-Engaged Research Program

This is a good thing… right?

I am a student at the University of Michigan, but first I am from Detroit. So when I see things like this, I get to thinking. How much is this really going to help the people they are researching directly? DCBRP’s work is hands on in the community and gets us working here directly. But when I just hear ‘environmental health research’ I get an uneasy feeling.

Like our speaker Angela said, what will the communities these people are coming to be affected when they leave? I am not opposed to the research, but I am scared of there not being anyone there after.

Hopefully the work the University does is long lasting and not just for their own gain.
