I observe people. Okay, that sounded extra creepy. I’ll just start over. I examine people. Gosh that sounded creepy too. I guess there is no way to say that you are paying way too much attention to other people without it sounding stalkerish. This is the dilemma I have been facing all day. I have started this dang blog post three times and dang it I will finish before 11:59.
Please excuse that mini rant it happens sometimes. Anyway, back to my blog post. Today I was given the oh so glorious task of telling you what I have observed in the most not creepy way possible (weird sentence structure I am aware, if you have a better option please comment below). At my time at the beloved office of Brilliant Detroit I have…been caught dancing to Moana in the copy room, pretending to be a gospel choir director and for the ultimate embarrassment I may or may not have spilled a cup of ice in the freezer. However, none of this answers your question and you may want to know why I have gone out of my way not to answer the question. The answer is simple.
I do not know what I have observed. I have the small interactions with a woman named Migdelia to offer that tell me she is hardworking and is the reason smiles are magnetic. I can also offer the times I witnessed Esmerelda’s baby look as though her eyes were X-Ray and could see exactly where you needed a smile. And if you find yourself ever so interested I can also offer the random bottle of hot sauce that appeared on my desk a few days ago. In these answers I have no answers. They are only glimpses and to truly observe there must be dedicated time to the subject.
Because I refuse to be the outsider that can make a generalization of someone based on small interactions I will not give you concrete observations. If only the same people who want to provide services to Detroit thought this way perhaps revitalization would exist where gentrification stands proud. If only people did not make generalized opinions based on glimpses they would have the ability to make keen observations and in there they would see exactly where Detroit needed help. If more people made observation and not glimpses there would be more Good Cakes and Bakes and fewer Starbucks.
But if you wish here is a picture of me being overly dramatic when I discovered what real adulting is.
