My first blog post makes me smile. I was so excited for the summer, so unsure of what was coming ahead, but so eager. I didn’t really know what to expect, but I did say that I recognized this summer could possibly change my outlook on life and my future career. This most certainly came true– I now know a lot more about what a 9-5 job at a nonprofit would look like, and it has helped me think about possible career options. I was looking forward to meeting a lot of people from different backgrounds, and that’s something that Brilliant has definitely allowed me to do. We frequently visited different neighborhoods of Detroit for various Brilliant community events. These were often my favorite days at work because of all the people we got to meet. I also feel like this summer was a good step into adulthood– it was my first experience working a 9-5 job and cooking for myself. I’m really glad I got to have this experience and meet all these wonderful people.
