Week 6: Team Building

This week, my sight had its team-building outing. We took a day away from the office and spent it together in Riverside Park. During this day of yoga, meals, dance lessons, yard games, and conversation, I felt like I really got to know the people that I worked with!

Being primarily virtual (going in only on some Wednesdays), I had found it particularly difficult to get to know the people that work in my department–especially those of whom I do not work directly with. During this day of fun in the sun, I got to talk with my coworkers about who they are outside of their titles within the CRIO department. Plus there is no better way to get to know someone than to have to fumble through a line dance together.

I am hopeful that this experience of getting to know each other personally will help us in our work. I know that it will make the work more fun and I can’t wait to go into the office next week to catch up on the conversations that we started!

  1. Hi Rose!
This sounds like so much fun. I can personally attest to how much having dance lessons with people (even people you think you know really well) can teach you about them. I’m really glad that you got the chance to connect with your coworkers in this way, to sort of break the professional barrier that zoom tends to create.

  2. This sounds so lovely, Rose! I’m so glad you got to have this experience. Talking to my coworkers has been my favorite part of the workday. That’s awesome you got to do your yoga too, I love all this for you!

  3. Hi Rose, I’m glad to hear that you found the CRIO bonding so enjoyable! I agree with you that it was extremely helpful to finally put some faces to the names of our colleagues.

  4. I’m so glad you got he opportunity to get to know some of your co-workers. Being virtual myself, I understand that its not exactly the same being in person. Excited for you!
