Week 6: Belle Isle is really belle – Detroit Community-Engaged Research Program

Week 6: Belle Isle is really belle

This week some of the fellows, Caitlin, Erin, Chen, and Jazzmyn, organized a group excursion to the beautiful Belle Isle. We walked around the island as a group and saw some of the main attractions such as the fountain, conservatory, and aquarium. While we were walking Caitlin, Erin, Chen, and Jazzmyn all told us about the history of the attractions we visited. I really enjoyed this trip since I’ve been to Belle Isle many times but it was my first time visiting the observatory and aquarium. I was amazed at how the conservatory workers are passionate about maintaining Belle Isle’s ecosystem and the tropical plants.

Thanks so much to the Belle Isle learning group for their stellar organizing! I had a really great time!

  1. Hi Olivia, I also loved the Belle Isle trip this week! Unfortunately, I think my fear of piranhas has grown greatly because of the aquarium, so I’ll be losing lots of sleep.
