Focus:Hope week 2

Hi All

My second week was somewhat uneventful in terms of the tasks I performed, but at the same time it was very fruitful in terms of learning about the organization and getting next steps on my project. This is mainly because i finished all my tasks earlier in the week and needed to talk with my supervisor before i moved on to the next segment. However, my supervisor is a very busy person and we were not able to talk until friday. So until then, I kept myself occupied by doing some extra research and attending more meetings with Focus Hope. I was able to attend the Hope Village Initiative meeting, which is once every 2-3 months. The meeting consisted of some Focus Hope employees as well as different community organizations/leaders, where we would update one another on eachother’s contributions to the HVI efforts. I really enjoyed this meeting as it exemplified the positive impacts of community involvement on an institutional level, and how it trickles down to the local community as well.

As far as actual work that I’ve done this week, I was able to use what limited computer skills I have to create an offline website! I will also be able to begin the creative aspect of creating a physical book for focus:Hope with the current research that I have. So hopefully I will have the creative juices to make something that is both informative as well as aesthetically pleasing. I also had to email the entire organization for past research, so hopefully it wont take that much time to transcribe. Another note, I will also have a volunteer helping me out with a lot of things, so that should be cool. It is kind of weird for me to have a helper as an intern, but hopefully we can work well together!

Hopefully I will have a more eventful post next week.
