Detroit’s largest art object

I decided to take a walk to New Center randomly yesterday. I have never been there before so I just walked toward a very, very tall building.

The Fisher can be seen from any corner of Detroit; the Detroit Skyline would not be complete without it. The 441-foot tower is flanked by two 11-story, flat-roofed wings and weighs in with 1.134 million square feet of floor area 

Setting foot inside this golden tower, you are overwhelmed with incredible artwork and decorations; they are the remains of a roaring and glamorous time in Detroit’s past. The original artist, Geza R. Maroti packed his work in the Fisher with symbolism. He focused heavily on the ideas of US wealth and power and American culture and civilization.

If someone ever says that “there’s nothing to see in Detroit,” tell them to take a walk. The Fisher building is the spirit of modern progress; the Fisher building will continue to sit peacefully yet proudly above Detroit for everyone to see.
