Adventure is Out There!

This blog post will surely not do this person justice, but nevertheless, I devote this post to my friend, Noor. Thanks for being you, for being you-nique. Your sense of adventure is out of this world.

Some of you may recall the following scene:

Carl innocently wanders into what he soon learns to be known as Ellie’s “exclusive explorers'” clubhouse. He’s holding tightly onto a blue balloon until Ellie comes up behind him and sharply asks, “What are you doing?!” After a little rant about the club’s exclusivity, Ellie departs from her intimidating persona, extends her hand and says, “Alright, you’re in. Welcome aboard!” She then proceeds to literally push Carl out of his comfort zone to retrieve his blue balloon that floated up into the rafters. The scene progresses into Ellie sharing her never-before-seen “Adventure Book” which includes where she will be living when she “get big” : Paradise Falls. The remaining blank pages are reserved for adventures and stuff that Ellie will be doing in the future. Ellie closes the book and concludes the day saying to Carl, “Well, see you tomorrow, kid. Bye!” She hops out the window, looks up at the sky and claims, “Adventure is out there!”

For those of you who didn’t quite hear the bell ring, this scene is from my all-time favorite movie, Up.

Transitioning back to the 4D life, I’d like to tell you a little bit about my friend, Noor.

No sooner did I meet Noor did she invite me to this aroma-gong-meditational therapy event. It sounded like a compendium of goodness, so I decided to join my new instant friend on a trek to Grosse Point’s Higher Grounds Coffee. Although I only knew Noor for about a day or two, she made me feel welcomed right off the bat. *insert finger snap here* The next thing I know, we exit the car and enter into hugs with complete strangers. This was a very new experience for me as it takes me a wee bit of time to transition into the hug life with new people. But the hugs didn’t stop there, everyone in the coffee shop was open and embracing one another. From the looks of it, you’d think that everyone has been friends for quite some time. It’s amazing how any showing of physical contact, like a hug or even just a smile, can connect two people on a closer level. Hugs turned into conversations which turned into new friends.

After munching on pot-lucked carrots, hummus, chips, salsa, et. al, and cupcakes (of course!) and conversing about all of life’s wonder, the new set of friends started brainstorming ideas for HUG Detroit. HUG Detroit is intended to serve as a refreshing oasis for individuals needing a break from the stress of everyday doings. Everyone was tossing around ideas about incorporating play spaces, art rooms, etc. The communal brainstorm then became a gong therapy session. We all selected spaces on the ground as a mesmerizing gong strokes and sizzles permeated the room. Conversations with even more new friends followed. Everyone was so open and engaging to talk with.

Noor, thank you for inviting me to this amazing event. You have inspired me to always be UP for adventure. Another great thing about you, your adventures always end with hugs. 🙂
