Hau’s Week 3: Balancing Work and Personal Work

Image

I struggled with balancing my workload this week.  I was under a lot of stress from finishing all of my work for Chiwara and completing all of the personal responsibilities.  However, I was extremely fortunate to have such an understanding boss, Nate.  Nate and my site coordinator, Alan, were extremely kind to me.  They alleviated much of my stress and were able to help me out with my work.  I am extremely thankful and proud that I get to work for such wonderful people, and doing amazing experimental work with nature.

Because I get to work with amazing people, I was able to develop an intense pride for working on a permacutlure project and working for Chiwara specifically.  Chiwara has a beautiful and educational vision of unifying the community together to improve the infrastructure of Highland Park and the living style of the people in the community.  With such a vision in placed, I want to work harder to achieve that goal.  I will continue to interact more with the people living in the community and will work harder to understand the different rules of permaculture.

  1. Im glad I got to visit your org. We had some good conversation going! I wish our orgs were closer though, so we could impact the same community, but I do think the two orgs will have some collaboration in the near future! I might even make sure of it.

  2. I know how stressful this can be and I hope you are able to continue to balance your workload. Its interesting because for me it is the exact opposite. I have a lot of free time during the day and sometimes its hard for me to stay focused,… I’m trying to work on this by the way haha! But again try to prioritize your work and set deadlines so that you could start working on something else when you are done with one job.
