Art: A Language Everyone Can Speak

The prompt immediately made me recall the Concert of Colors. Remembering today at the speaker series “Looking for America” it was mentioned that art could speak all languages, I think of the ways the performers at Concert of Colors told their story. Satori Satori Shakoor’s storytelling was explained as something everyone has the ability to do and it was convey a message implicitly. Although Ramy Essam performed in Arabic, you could often sense what he was portraying through his voice and facial expressions. Tall Paul’s rap allowed him to speak his truth and even connect Native American heritage to modern music. Their art allows a mutual understanding.

I agree with you about the power of art. Art is a great way to portray different issues and stories. I enjoyed looking at the different forms of art in the “Looking for America” exhibit.
